About

Hi! My name is Shell and welcome to my blog, Neurodivergent in Nature.

This is where I collate my “Field Notes from the Other Side of Burnout.”

Like many neurodivergent people, especially when we have been around a few decades, I have lost count of how many times I’ve gained a new chronic illness diagnosis, or had a severe acute health issue that’s knocked me off my feet for months. And then there’s the mental health side – the constant waxing and waning of anxiety and depression.

But each time, nature has played an intrinsic role in putting me back together, or just being there as a comfort and a motivator during the times before I was ready to get back up and start again.

On this site you will hopefully find inspiration for your own nature connection journey.

I explore the natural world through the lens of autism, ADHD and chronic illness/disability and am putting together my species-focused travel tales, notes from my (overgrown) wildlife garden, nature journal pages, essays and some lovely nature connection resources for you.

Thanks so much for being here! You will find me around the Internet, so you can choose from the place that suits you best 🙂
